Mimizan-plage

Mimizan is one of the trendiest sea resorts in the Landes with its ocean beaches on one side, vast pine forests on the other and Aureilhan Lake in the middle. Could there be a better place for a camping holiday in the Landes?

Mimizan is famous for its golden beaches, bright sunshine and cool lifestyle

Seaside resorts mean beaches! And to say that you're spoilt for choice is an understatement. The beaches go on forever covering almost 10km. You don't need to venture far to enjoy them. Our campsite in Mimizan is 500m (from the campsite exit) from the South beach which is heaven for surfers, kite surfers and fishermen.

Before heading for the beach, take time out for a stroll on Mimizan-Plage's pedestrian street. The shops, restaurants, ice cream shops and smell of candied nuts ooze holiday vibes! But let's get back to Mimizan's beaches. Lespecier beach is a favourite among our campers and renowned as being the wildest in the Landes. We can highly recommend Courant beach for kids who haven't quite learnt to swim yet as the water is calmer than the ocean.

Aside from swimming, there are all sorts of water sports: sailing, surfing, bodyboarding, kitesurfing, windsurfing, stand-up paddleboarding, jet skiing, diving etc. Just dive in! For further information, read our blog devoted to Mimizan's beaches.

Mimizan-Bourg and its extraordinary heritage

Mimizan old town is home to a medieval architectural gem. The Mimizan belltower-porch is the last remnant of an old Benedictine priory listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site as part of the Santiago de Compostela trail.

Here you'll find incredible sculpted work from the 13th century, stunning murals from the 15th century and beautifully-made polychrome statues.

A trip to the Priory Museum gives you an in-depth look at this medieval gem, Mimizan from Prehistory to the Middle Ages and local geology.

Up close with nature

A camping break in Mimizan means a holiday in the great otudoors. Landes de Gascogne forest, endless dunes, shaded gallery forests, marshes and wet meadows... nature is all around you so get out and explore it.

Go on the lovely "floral walk" around Aureilhan-Mimizan lake, paddle down Mimizan river to the ocean, cycle on the Dunes bike path which covers the Vélodyssée, hit the trail exploring the Mailloueyre lakes packed with unique flora and fauna... One thing's for sure, nature lovers will be in their element!
