The lake of Parentis
Located in the heart of the Landes forest, the lake of Biscarrosse and Parentis is the second largest lake in the Landes, with a surface area of 3,540 hectares. This Landes jewel is particularly suitable for swimming and water sports. The beach of the lake of Parentis-en-Born is supervised in season. Children can swim there without risk, as the water is shallow.
For sportsmen, the Parentis sailing school allows everyone to practice their favourite nautical activity: windsurfing, catamaran, optimist, canoe, stand up paddle or pedal boat. The marinas of Piaou and Moutéou offer boaters the opportunity to anchor their boats in an exceptional natural setting. Fishermen will not be left on the sidelines. Quite the contrary, since the lake of Parentis shelters beautiful populations of carps, pike-perches, perches and pikes.
And for those who love cycling, the banks of the lake are ideal for bike rides. The cycle tracks allow you to reach Biscarrosse to the north or Sainte-Eulalie-en-Born to the south in a few pedal strokes. On the Biscarrosse side, don't miss the visit of the seaplane museum to relive the fabulous adventure of the airmail on the former Latécoère base!
Parentis and its rich heritage
Make the most of your stay at a campsite near Parentis to discover some of the Landes' heritage treasures. Start with the Parentis bullring. This former resin-making village is the only town in the north of the Landes to have a bullring. Inaugurated in 1927, the Roland Portalier bullring, named after a former mayor of the town and a famous Landes race ganadero, hosts numerous Landes races, novilladas and other bullfighting shows.
Among the richness of the heritage, we can also mention the Hôtel du Lac et des Pins, where the most famous pre-war aviators such as Antoine Saint Exupéry and Henri Guillaumet used to stay, the church of Saint-Pierre (15th century) and its listed oak Christ, or the Villa Germinal which became the town hall of Parentis.
The atmosphere of the Landes férias!
Do you have a sense of celebration? Every summer, at the beginning of August, the ferias of Parentis gather thousands of festayres and aficionados dressed in white and red! The Féria de Sen Bertomiu is one of the biggest férias in the north of the Landes! On the programme: bullfights, Landes races, recortes competitions, float parades and floral cavalcades, exhibitions, tastings, bodegas, bandas, concerts and many other activities.

Facing the lake of Parentis and in the heart of the Landes forest, come and enjoy nature and adventure at the accrobranche park of Parentis! The courses are carried out on cables, with a wide variety of workshops: nets, logs, footbridges, suspended platforms... To do: the crossing of the park in a tyrolean traverse. Wow effect guaranteed!
Did you know that?
Many people do not know it, but Parentis-en-Born has the largest oil deposits in France! Discovered in 1954, the "black gold" of Parentis-en-Born is even a vintage of excellent quality. If the derricks which were used to draw oil have disappeared, the swing pumps are still very visible on the outskirts of the lake of Biscarrosse and Parentis. The Landes concession is operated by the Vermilion company and produces some 2,000 barrels of crude oil per day!
