What would the Landes region be without all its lakes? Discovering the Landes lakes offers a wide range of activities to do with the family, alone or with friends. Between the numerous beaches, the water sports centres and the many walking trails, there is something for everyone!
Discover the lakes on the Landes coast
In just 20 minutes, holidaymakers at the Mimizan campsite will have plenty of time to explore the different facets of the Aureilhan and Mimizan lakes. The area is particularly popular for its flowery promenade with a rich flora of several hundred different species of flowers and shrubs. Walkers will not be the only ones to enjoy this Landes lake. Several pontoons are present around the lake allowing fishing enthusiasts to indulge their hobby. When "it bites" it is not uncommon to catch pike, catfish or carp.
Landes lake north of Mimizan
Biscarrosse has 2 large lakes, the second largest in France: the lake of Cazaux-Sanguinet located north of the resort. This lake is particularly popular with thrill-seekers who can indulge their hobby at the Aquapark.
The Lake of Parentis-Biscarrosse is known for its hydrobase and the hydraviation museum.
Landes lake south of Mimizan
The Etang de Léon and its "Landes Amazon" will surprise you during a boat trip on the Huchet stream where dunes, forest, ocean and marshes mix.
Want to practice water sports during your holidays in Mimizan? The Soustons Lake has a nautical base where it is possible to practice rowing, windsurfing, catamaran and canoeing. You wish to find a lake for the bathe? At 10 km from the lake of Soustons, you can go to the marine lake of the port of Albret and enjoy its beaches.
Further south, you will find the Lake of Hossegor which has the particularity of living according to the tides. Many species of birds such as the grey heron, the egret, the great cormorant are present because of the number of fish in the lake. This lake is therefore the ideal place for nature lovers, but also for epicureans as it is possible to eat oysters produced on the spot.
